New to the site.
I have a 4.5 month old male catahoula, I was hoping to train on hogs. Are there any fenced in operations I can take a pup to and expose to small hogs?
I am located in the NW Tampa/Oldsmar area.
Thanks!!

let me clarify what i told you on Real deal hig hunts. He is a guided hunt service and will let you use your dogs and if you don't want to keep what ya'll catch he has different rates. he does not just let people go in and use his hogs in any NON HUNTING fashion. Lee

Best bet is word of mouth, find someone who has dogs & hunts, chances are they'll know of a pen..

I looked into both BMCs and Catahoulas before making a decision. This cat pup seems to come from a good line of hog dogs. Additionally, he is very intelligent and good with the 3 kids.

This may be true if they have somecross in um, also very true on how much u work um , can't make a dog without work , also don't push yer pup to much he's young yet unless they show interest don't worry. Some dogs are late bloomers and its hard work to turn um on if u don't have hogs handy it takes even longer I always let my pups fallow me to the pins while feeding and let them see what hogs are leave. Them outside and grab a hog and get it fired up and squeelin most the time gets um hooked and they won't wanna leave if they come from good blood just always remember pups haveshort attention spans so don't work to long pull um back wantin more or they will get bored

I have fl curs and a 3/4 cat 1/4 bulldog both them are excelent with my kids and very protective of my property both also very smart dogs like I said above lot of work without hogs handy to bad I'm over in brevard id have ya over throw hog out in pasture with my 5 month old pups if yer ever rd here or wanna make trip I sure would help ya out then take um to the woods let um run with the big dogs , my lead dog at the moment won't be runnin till she drops her liter and weens um off which should be beg oct she ready to go plus much cooler

every dog is diffrent. infact a dog that dosent want to mess with a caged pig. try showing one in an open enviornment and you may get a diffrent response.. i see it in the pups from my own stock. and some are just late bloomers. got find what works for the dog.

I've had dogs not do a thing in a pen, then put em in a pasture and let it run, game over..

I have to agree with jus about all of the above I'm still waiting on my cat to really turn on she has been on a lot of hogs I jus don't think she really knows how to bite them on the beep an stop them but when one is bayed watch out she is gunna catch but she gets better with every hunt I have had her on but then again hell she is the first dog I have ever tried to train to be a hog dog but I'm happy with her progress but then again what do I know I'm still kinda new at it only been catching hogs with dogs for a year and a half I know I got a lot to learn
