Hadnt planned on taking the dogs out after they got cut up the other night but went out to feed them and they were fired up and ready to go! Loaded up TarBaby, Dixie, Pearl and Wesson who is a new addition to the crew. He is a litter mate male to my Pearl pup sired by Tusk and whelped by my TarBaby gyp. I got the opportunity to buy him back since Tusk is going into retirement. Got in the gate at 2245 and dumped the dogs out. Within 5 minutes of the dogs being on the ground Dixie and Pearl strike one. Heard them try it and then the hog broke. Started walking towards the direction they are headed and they cut back towards us. Still have my TarBaby gyp and Wesson pup near us. See TarBaby and Wesson put the brakes on and head into a swamp. Pearl crossed the road right after them and was right on their heels. They catch it a 100 yds in. Get to them and they got it caught in the middle of a dried up pond. Ease in and sink up to my waist in mud. Finally get the hog and dogs out and the sky gives out. Get the hog hobbled and drug back out to the road. Wesson never stopped baying that hog. He was bought by a buddy as a pup and was a yard dog until today on his first hunt. He did a heck of a job for a 11 month old pup that has never been in the woods and never seen a hog at that.

Thanks bud, he's got the blood to make a hell of a dog but only time will tell starting him so late in the game. He showed a lot of interest so I don't think it will take long. His litter mate sister has struck several hogs and finished it out solo so I think he will do the same!
