The sire to the pups is a 9 year old 65 lb dog. he is pretty well known around our part and has caught a pile of pork. He is a meduim range dog normal hunt but can be very long range if we get on a runner. He has a very good nose on him. He has very minimal bay and has been wrecked more times than I can remember. We have started quite a few dogs with him. If you ask Ryan Moran (boarhog1) he can tell you about him a little too. Ryan has been around him since he got into the sport. Me and Ryan use to hunt a lot together and have caught a pile of them together.
The gyp is a smaller framed dog about 40 lbs. she is a cow dog with a very good nose. She is also meduim range and has a very good circle. She is a good lead and has a lot of bite on run offs. I got the dog because she was too rough on the cows they had..... I didn't understand it because you need a good rough dog for run offs, but worked out for me.
Both are completely silent. When he was younger he you'll yip one time right before he caught but that was the most you heard out of him unless he was fighting with one.
I actually culled two pups out of the last litter for people aggression and one for not having enough hunt. The grit was there just not the range like I wanted. The pup I kept is on her way to being an All star, I can tell you that she WAS finding hogs on her own by her self at six months old! And at 18 months old she was winding hogs from the dog box. I don't do airboat hunting so I would be lying if I said they would do it off a boat....
The pup I just spoke of was sired by the same male but whelped by a Mark Chesser bred female. She is a good dog but does not have an outstanding nose. She makes up for it by covering ground and beating the bushes.
This litter I feel should be just as promising! I'm sure there will be culls in it also but I am honest with myself when culling. I am not afraid to say it. Every litter has culls and a man that tells you that he never produces a cull is full of #2! It's all about making your crew better and if you don't stay true and honest with youself your never going to get anywhere.
There is no skittish to any of my dogs, they have a good handle and listen better than my kids! They are not registered nor would I ever want to register them. The bloodlines are local (citrus county) family owed and have been around for generations.
As far as the price goes, I had no intentions of selling any of them and I more than likely still will not sell any of them. I have paid $1000 for a pup before so it's not a big deal for me to sell one for $1000 also. It's all about how bad someone wants one. Do I believe they are worth that? I can't honestly answer that because it is a first cross. But I know of dogs from previous litters out of both dogs and they have produced some good ones! I put that price on them to deter most people away for the simple fact that I really did not want to sell any.
I think I answered everything you asked but if there is anything else you want to know let me know
