That's the thing I have a gritty 4 year old Catahoula I bought the was supposed to GO TO THE BAY I've seen her in the bay pen she is very gritty. I'm going to do some mock training this weekend with a tied up hog and try to teach the rest of these guys to haul beep to snickers when she's barking. Snickers will catch with another dog but she won't mess with a bigone unless she has help. I just have to be patient I guess I have one good dog and now I have to try to get the rest of these right and after they know what to do I expect them to do it or they gots to go. It is hard to judge a woods dog in a Pen. More dogs will bay in a pen than hunt in the woods. Starting out is hard. Enjoy watching the progress and try not to get impatient. looks like you are starting out pretty good and open minded. we all can always learn something new. I am starting over after a 4 year layoff and hunting with dogs 17 years. I have had to put myself in check a few times because i expected too much because i what i had. I am enjoying things more now. Hunting with people that have similair styles in dogs helps. Their dogs can help teach yours. I was lucky to be able to do that and still do. look for similar style dogs and that consistant pack.

Bad thing about a pen is they don't have to work to.find a hog. Pens make dogs lazy in my eyes. I only try to use them.a few times.

I've had dogs that were down right nasty in a pen and would catch anything. But in the woods theyd just bay..
