What's funny is I have one of the best lead dogs you will ever hunt behind. I don't hunt with a bunch of strangers and I don't care about the limelight FB sensationalism of BS "hogdogger know it all's". I had a hard time getting rid of my puppies off two finished dogs for $150. They are gone now but I sat and watched many chit eaters get picked up on Southern airboat, bay dog, FB and other sites while I had bad beep dogs right here that I will normally give away to the right people. Hog doggin for me is about improving our dogs. Sharing our good ones. Culling the bad ones. Not selling garbage dogs from accidental breedings and spreading chit eaters around. Now with that said, I am picky who gets my dogs. I do not breed unless I need dogs or friends need dogs but 13 dogs in the last litter and that's too many. Thank God cause Rebar was killed shortly after breeding Alley. I kept 4 males out of the litter and culled 2 of those 4. Some of you you need to give back to the sport. Stop going around picking up garbage dogs cause their free. Stop going with anybody that will go and go with good hunters. Get you some good dogs, protect and improve on them with buds. Get in the woods and learn from some guys that came before you. With that said, I'm not the Hogfather. I have a lot to learn. What I do know is our sport has been attacked by takers! What are you doing to help our sport thrive? Maybe we as a group should do something that matters, for our heritage!

I got a few good ones for free, and a few sh it eaters, and bought a few good ones, and from here on out I would like to try to just breed and train my own so I know what I'm getting. However in this sport seems like a good idea to keep a spare team going.

i wish there were less hunters becouse then you dont have all these sh!t eaters and ppl that have no clue what there doing and breeding sh!t eaters to sh!t eaters.. in the last 2 to 3 years hog hunting with dogs have blown up there are way to many ppl that have a dog box in the back of there truck.. i no ppl that all they do is ride on the side of the road and dump on one and thats it and they call there dogs amazing.. there are so many ppl that have truelly never seen a good dog that they actually believe there dogs are good but they really are a piece of crap. i went with my buddy and all his dogs were walking behind us and he said thats why she is a good dog becouse she stay beside you till you walk up one.. LMAO then talks about breeding it to his jam up catch that has cought maybe 20 hogs lol ppl kill 75 shoalt becouse they cant handle tieing it up and getting the dogs of by there self. hell ive hunted by myself and one dog many of times and tied the hogs up marked them and turned em loose if i couldnt handle it by myself its damn well bigger then 150 let alone a 75 pound shoalt... if they band hunting with dogs it wouldnt effect me one bit all still be throw dogs in the truck hitting the woods. thats when you will find out who the true hog hunters are

Now don't take me the wrong way and I'm pickin up everything yer laying down , but hear me out. My aunt is avet and a breeder the standard breeding procedures is u breed a gyp on her 2nd 3rd skip 4th and breed again on her 5th and 6th and she's done . Now I get yer accidental breeding concern and sellin culls as hog dogs but I've put a lot of time and money in mine and have breed twice now my first litter sold in a week and the dogs that shoewed worthy are already workin findin hogs and doin great the ones that didn't meet the standards went to non hunting homes I still sold every pup for 150 and said to them if this dog dosent make the cut yer money is here waitin and the dogs would be turned to good homes of non hunters. Non have been returned ! Now I have another liter 5 weeks today bred by breeding standards and not trash dogs bred by no means if so I would not be feeding them but am I wrong for what I'm doing in my eyes no I'm not trying to ruin our sport I've got more then 10k invested over 6 years and still learning , but I don't have friends in these parts worthy to give my hard earned time and such of a trained dog to but I do know when it comes down to it no one is gonna give away a dog you've wormed out got checked by vett had shots administered admistered too and spent a lot of money in feed(diamond) for free to someone u don't know espically when u have put in the time and dedication into raising hunting and treating a dog as yer family

Very well put crackae11 I like how you see things. I am new to HOG HUNTING but I've been around working dogs since I was in a diaper and have bred dogs since I was a kid. I do expect allot out of my dogs but there is a difference between a beep eater and a dog that no time was put into. You get out of them what you put into them, and dumping on some one elses hog is about as dirty as it gets.

I have NEVER paid for a dog in my life ! Until now ! I have always gotten pups out if local ranchers and proven stock ! They want their stuff to be worked. With that said papers for a dog mean nothing to me ! Even when it comes to breeding cuz if I'm breeding I'm breeding for a friend or myself ! We take our pick and give the rest away! If the person is willing to give donations then great. With that said there are so many people moving garbage and not willing to cull!!! Culling is putting a dog in the ground not dropping it off at the pound or giving it to a "non working or hunting" home! Js if that's the case that dog can still end up in the hands of someone that thinks just cuz the dog has a glass eye or a bobbed tail or a scar its a hog dog ! Listen I'm all about introducing new folks and most importantly youngins to hunting (the outdoors) but when you have rookies teaching rookies it just gives us all a bad name... I'm no pro by any means but I do have 20+ years of hog hunting with dogs under my belt and have caught more hogs than most people have seen... I've watched this go from one extreme to the other and don't like the way i heading ... I recently bought me a cur dog off of w very good friend who was not using the dog .. I was just taking the dog for him cuz he was unable to go. After the dog living in my pens for a few months I started to like him A LOT !! My buddy told me to keep him and use him all I wanted but he was not willing to part with him. So after some convincing and cash in hand I ended up with the dog ! At the time I started using the dog I was on the fence about changing up my style of dog ! For most of my life I've owned rcds .. not what most folks define an rcd but Lepcurs that hunted hard with some range but never barked straight catch ... No matter how big or rank. It was a caught hog ! That type of dog for me was always what a hog dog was . Since I've gotten a lil older and had youngins I've decided to stop spending more time doctorn dogs on the tail gate and get me one good baying dog that I.. can talk into catching or getting ruffer if I slip a rope over the hogs head or get in there and leg the hog myself .. I can now say I've bought a dog but he's exactly what I was after ! To get back on topic its not just passing junk dogs around but its all these folks walking around with their chest bowed out telling all these stories about how bad beep of a hog hunter they are but when beep gets hairy in the woods they ain't got a clue what to do..... Just go to you tube and watch some of these people ! I watched a video a guy who supposedly. Breeds these bad beep dogs and catches all these hogs.. he posted a video of these cur dogs baying a 150lb hog .. mind you there was 5 guys and each one had a bulldog on a leash .. they decided which two champs to cut loose from 50... yards away and one of these bulldogs got there and barked a few times then caught the other hammered down. So then this brave hog hunter ran over .... And was still scared to leg this hog ... Two bulldogs hanging like earrings and half a dozen cur dogs getting mouth fulls and he was tip toeing around and flat out scared !! So he pulled out his sword of a knife and killed the hog never legging it... Which is fine !, but after reading this guy post stuff day after day about how bad beep him and his dogs are I had to chuckle a lil bit! If you ain't willing to get in there with your dogs you shouldn't be doing it ! To many decent dogs are killed or badly hurt cuz folks are scared or to inexperienced to put their hands on a hog !
