Have not felt like posting for awhile. Caught this Big Boy saturday night with my Son, Gary ,Jacob and gary's cousin. Gary's dog struck this hog about 700yds out and my 3 chit eaters went to him and this is what they got. My Ralph dog got a little ear piercing but all in all a very good night.

about 3/4 inch. The right size to do lots of damage on a hog that size.. I was proud of the dogs.

Glad to hear about the hogs. Sorry about the dog but glad he is ok. It happens sooner or later. I have never been a vest person but i am thinking about getting a couple boar bibs for a couple of my dogs. I have always felt i would rather lose a dog to a hog than heat stroke i caused because i made them wear a vest, but the bibs seem to take care of that issue. I like the pigga frigga ones but my budget will probably be a hardcore hog dogs brand and they have them with kevlar also for few extra bucks. The others are seatbelt material webbed. Good reviews for both. If anyone reads this and has either i would be curious of opinions.

I tried a vest back in 96/97 and hated it. gave it away. Since then i have seen a handful of dogs that people had a vest on that died from heatstroke. one guy was someone that asked to team up with me and a friend a Greenswamp west. Day hunt, hot and i said hey not trying to tell you what to do but i would take that vest off. he said it was his wifes dog and she would kill him if he got cut down and killed and he is a house dog. I knew right then the dog had no buisness in the woods. we caught 1 hog with the dog and my Candy dog relayed, the Pit took off after we legged the caught hog and broke him off and 30mins later we found his Pit laying in a dirt road over heated. They took him back to cool him down and i went twords my dog. Got back and he was in tears, dog dead. in almost 20 years doing this i have never seen a hog dog slash house dog when hunted long enough not end up dead or really hurt bad atleast once, but i am sure there are exceptions. I love my dogs as much as the next guy that is why i hunt with dogs, but my hunting dogs stay outside and my Pets stay inside. sorry got carried away. brought back memories.
