What combo do you guys use on Running Hogs? I have hunted a few different places some places the hogs run 200 to 800 yards and bay up then its a sealed deal. I have hunted places where the hogs are freaking track stars that seem to run for their lives and never stop will not bay up just keep running. Just curious what type/combo do you use on these type of hogs?

Man we ran them suckers all night i had 2 of my dogs on the ground, another guy had a nice cur dog on the ground, then some Pits a Pit/Dane cross, and some Partin/bulldog crosses and we never did get one to stop. It was my first time hunting this spot but the other guys hunt there all the time and they use all RCD say its hard to get one to stop in there without RCD.

Just about the only way to keep one from runnin on you is to use nothing but rcd's. When they find it,they just suck it up without sayin a word. If a hog, especially a big hog, has it's mind set on runnin then thats exactly what its gonna do. Dont matter if its got one or two silent dogs behind it or four or five open mouth hounds behind it. Iv hunted places with a pack of open mouth hounds that trail in,find the hog,and bay till you get there. Whether it takes you five minutes to get there or two hours to get there, that hog just aint runnin that day. But ive also hunted places with just one or two bay dogs that dont say a word until they're lookin at the hog and that hog will take off and run for the next two weeks lol. I believe it really boils down to the property your hunting. If that property has been dogged alot in the past more than likely its gonna be full of runners. If it hasnt then then vise versa. JMO

10-4, if a good hog don't WANT to stop, there ain't much gonna keep him stopped. Running catch dogs would be the best bet, catch him the first time they see him and don't give him a chance to run. If the hogs on a piece of property have been run a few times they know whats gonna happen if they stop and they don't want that to happen again!!! Hogs are in the top five of smartest animals, they learn real quick, so the more they're dogged' the more they learn to keep runnin and their ears hurt less!!!!!! Thats why on a "new" property you normally catch a pile of hogs right off, and the more it's hunted, what hogs are left are the "trained" hogs the start running at the sound of the key in the front gate!!!!
