I just put new long range antennas and bought a new 14" rubber long range antenna for my 220 handheld. I have added and removed my collars several times and calibrate my compass every hunt. My system is losing communication at sometimes 150yds. Before all the changes i got as far as 1.7 miles. any ideas what this could be ? lastnight everyone of my collars acted up and i wanted to go crazy! Even thought i had a dog killed because another he was with came back hrt and could not find him, until had me looking under orange trees and then all of a sudden he showed up 436 yds another direction. Thank god. Lost 2 hogs because garmin was messed up and it took us too long to get to them caught. My dogs don't bay. bad night.

Fun. Always a price to pay for technology. My old azz had a hard enough time figuring out how to turn it on. lol.

Just wanted to update. I am sure a lot of you already know this but i called garmin and they walked me thru installing their newest updates and i updated my handheld then each collar. They reccomend this every few months or when a notice in communication loses and reduced range. They also said to make sure the I.D numbers are not too close on the collars and the collars of people you are hunting with.. I have 4 collars and sure enough just reloading them i had 2 collars 1 number apart. I changed them because they said to have them as far from each other as possible so they do not conflict with each other. Hope this helps anyone like me ( New to garmin) and gets you tracking better. Saturday we probably lost 1 caught hog because we could not get their fast enough ( dogs don't bark, just catch) and kept losing communication and was looking under orange tree's for what i thought was a dead dog because the one he was with on a hog came back lame and he is a dog that does not bay. Hope for a better next hunt.
